From Schwabenland to the world
In 1853, Daniel Straub founded the metal goods factory "Straub & Schweizer" in the Swabian town of Geislingen, together with the brothers Louis and Friedrich Schweizer. Shortly after its foundation, the company presented its brass, copper and plaque goods at the Munich Industrial Exhibition in 1854.

Eight years later, at the World Exhibition in London, which was attended by 28,000 exhibitors from 36 countries, "Straub & Schweizer" was awarded a gold medal and thus also gained international recognition. In 1880, the company merged with the metal goods factory "Ritter & Co." from Esslingen am Neckar to form the "Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik". WMF was founded.

Since then, WMF has pushed ahead with numerous innovations, such as the development of the first Cromargan® cutlery in 1932 and the world's first fully automatic coffee machine in 1969 – products that were not only functional, they also always had an artistic orientation that suited the respective time. Thus, the products of the 1950/60s were particularly influenced by the work of Bauhaus student Wilhelm Wagenfeld. Also, in the years that followed right through to today, WMF has closely cooperated with renowned international designers. Design made in Geislingen has therefore been setting trends for many decades – in private as well as professional settings.

Today, WMF Professional is a valued partner of restaurateurs and hoteliers all over the world – both in front of and behind the scenes.
