La dolce vita

La dolce vita
Italy brings together many things: history and culture, varied cuisine, a wide selection of wines and a very special attitude to life. Thankfully, countless restaurants today bring "la dolce vita" to the whole world. When equipping an Italian restaurant, restaurateurs have a vast range of products to choose from.

Meat or pasta?

In a design-oriented, modern Italian restaurant, cutlery series such as Nordic, with its unusual lines and narrow silhouette, or the very purist and elegant-looking Unic cutlery, blend in perfectly with the setting. Restaurateurs add special highlights by choosing cutlery with PVD coatings in the colours copper, anthracite or gold – possibly also combined with other finishes like stone-washed, brushed or glass bead blasted. More traditional establishments often opt for classic elegant forms of cutlery, such as Baguette or Flair. Collections like Solid, Signum and Casino also contribute to the Mediterranean atmosphere of the table. With its hammered surface, the Sitello series fits in perfectly with the Italian atmosphere too. The majority of these cutlery collections include special pizza knives. If a restaurant also has meat dishes like the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina on the menu, in addition to the main cutlery it also needs steak cutlery with a particularly sharp blade, such as Rodeo. And exquisite speciality Italian desserts call for dessert cutlery of course, including teaspoons in various designs. Depending on the number of seats and the menu, the restaurant should keep two to three times the required amount of main cutlery in stock.

Vino bianco or vino rosso?

Whether red or white – almost every wine drinker will find their favourite wine in Italy. The choice of glasses is as varied as the wine landscape. Restaurateurs who have developed a taste for soft and round shapes will find the perfect glass in the Royal collection, while the glass series Divine has a more modern and striking appearance. Both cater for the entire range of usual drinks, so guests can also enjoy an “aperitivo” or an espresso with grappa, served in matching glasses. The Manhattan collection, with its selection of cocktail glasses, can also be lined up on the shelf behind the bar. The table arrangement is rounded off by various glass wine decanters for serving the “Vino di Casa”. Restaurateurs can add visual accents with soft drink glasses from the Divine Color series. In the smoke grey colour, they look great alongside the wine glasses. Two to three times the required quantity of standard glasses should be kept in stock.

Coffee culture from the South

Whether the obligatory espresso after a meal or a cappuccino for breakfast: Italian coffee culture is known and loved throughout the world. In addition to a simple coffee set, "CultureCup" adds a special touch. The modern design combines glass, porcelain and Cromargan and offers many potential combinations for serving specialty coffees in style. When it comes to materials and possible combinations, WMF’s CoffeeCulture is just as impressive as the CultureCup collection. This series is based around cups, glasses and trays with a classic, round design.
